26-02-2026 Cedefop announces a call for papers for a special Working Paper series exploring how artificial intelligence (AI) and advanced digital technologies are being used in vocational education and training (VET)

AI enables personalised learning and adaptive pedagogies, while reducing administrative burdens for pedagogical and non-pedagogical staff. Utilization of these benefits requires immediate systemic change, teacher capacity building, and ethical governance. Knowledge on the use of AI in VET compared to other areas of education remains limited. In addition, little is known about the effect of the use of AI with regard to implementation, scaling, inclusion outcomes, and the distinctive pedagogical and institutional characteristics of VET.

To decrease this knowledge gap, Cedefop calls for papers exploring the use of AI in VET. Selected papers will be published in a special Cedefop Working Paper series exploring how artificial intelligence (AI) and digital technologies are being used in VET to promote inclusion, resilience, and sustainable transitions. The deadline for abstract submission is April 15, 2026. Papers will undergo a light peer-review process.
